Review: Baby & Toddler Portable Car Seat

I've been tagged in FB last week by an online baby store, http://simpledimplestore.blogspot.com/. They are promoting Portable Car Seats for Babies & Toddlers with a fairly affordable price, ranges from RM69 to RM89 depending on the design & colour.

So, have you heard of this safety product? Have you bought & tried any of it? I'm pretty interested in buying one for Ms.LZ but have yet to find & read any reviews on this particular car seat. Please help me leave your review or comments on this Portable Car Seat here if you have any.
As usual, before buying an online product, I make an effort to do some research and come up with a review based on the findings.
This convenient portable car seat is an economical and easy way for parents to travel with toddlers. No more renting car seats while on vacation. No more lugging and checking bulky boosters. Keep in mind that this is merely an alternative when a full-sized car seat is not an option.

This car seat folds compact to fit in a suitcase or tote. It is light weight, but still retains the safety features of larger seats. Children is placed in the forward-facing seat, buckle the harness points and make sure they are snug with the sternum stays. The back and bottom are well padded, and the padded shoulder straps will keep the neck from chafing.

However, I personally found that the seat lacks in side cushioning, so i think it's not suitable for longer car trips when your child might want to drift to sleep, but for the portability, ease of use, and value, this travel car seat can't be beat.

This portable Car Seat is ideal for parents who are concerned about keeping their child safe while traveling. It is perfect for taking your children on vacation, using in rental cars or taxis, carpooling, caregivers and second cars.
  • Forward-facing
  • Harness points restraint with adjustable buckle strap
  • Compact and lightweight design for travel
  • Padded neck & backrest
  • Vehicle seat belt securely locks through for installation
  • Harness is separated from the baby for added safety.
Kindly browse the blog for further inquiries and ordering. Happy trying!

Swimming Lessons #4 by SuperSharkz

Our weekly routine = Ms.LZ's swimming class at Pusat Akuatik Shah Alam. She's enrolled under SuperSharkz Team with her other schoolmates.

Alhamdulillah, she's progressing well in all the classes (in fact has been one of the instructors favourite.Cewahh!).
So, this week, her 4th Class = 3m Indoor Pool.
Deeeeeppp freezinggg pool! And it was pouring heavily outside, just imagine how cold the water was!

Ms.LZ complained quite a bit, "I'm too tired.." (with a 'i need sympathy' cry) - after 2 laps of paddling.
And an incident (to add on her 2 other incidents before enrolling into swimming class).. She thought she could swim as far as the other boy did (Imran, he's a senior in SuperSharkz - SWCH's owner's son), but she only managed to swim half way and panicked in the middle of the route.. tenggelam timbul, gasping for air, panicking hehehe! Muntah sikit, cried & back in the water.. Kids! Memang tak pernah serik kan??? :-))

A few weeks back.. floating

This week. Fearless in deep water! Kudos!

You can get more info on SuperSharkz Swim Team here : http://www.supersharkz.com.

"Supersharkz Swim School was founded out of the love and passion for swimming by two siblings – one Olympian, both national swimmers, and both current Selangor state coaches, Mark and Marilyn Chua. We wish to provide everyone – regardless of age, race, status and physical ability – the opportunity to learn to swim and to enjoy and love the water as much as we do.
Since its birth in 2006, Supersharkz Swim School has taught thousands of children and adults to swim. We have grown to employ 15 in-house passionate and dedicated instructors who are well-qualified, experienced and rigorously trained to master our unique teaching methods and the Supersharkz System of Learning to Swim.
Together as we grow with our students, we continue to improve our teaching system while keeping our fees affordable to all."

Fees are affordable! Registered under SWCH, Ms.LZ's getting only RM70/month (1hr/session/week) with instructor:student ratio of 1:2 (or 3). Actually the rate for Kindergarten/Primary group is RM50/month but the school requested for lower instructor-student ratio for an additional RM20.
The young instructors are all child friendly (yet strict if they have to).

Of Disney On Ice and Sports Rehearsal ..

We enjoyed our Disney On Ice show yesterday. All 10 of us in a row with constant narration from the kids and non-stop hand claps.. Moms were as happy as the kids too! Thanks for the company Mary, Marlyn, Fizlin & kids! We had fun!

Upcoming event: SWCH 20th Sports Day!
Kids & techers are busy prepping & rehearsing for the big day, this coming 10th April..
Due to our extreme weather, the event will be held in an indoor field at 1Utama shopping complex. Glad that there are fans & mist fans in the premise.. pregnancy+internal oven+hot weather=bad bad combination! And this venue will definitely make the kids less crankier.. Thanks for understanding dear SWCH!

3 Essential Health Checks all of us must know!!
Sure, your pediatrician is checking your child for the serious stuff. But protecting her health doesn't end there, so roll up your sleeves, slap on the white coat, and check your child's ...

HEAD: How often? = Once a month
Ewww.. (photo: Google)
Head Lice is more common than we think. Check it monthly or anytime there's an outbreak at preschool or daycare. Look for the most common symptom: itching around the ears, neck, or top of the head. Treatment: combing out the nits, washing hair with with a pesticide-based syampoo and laundering all the clothes and bedding. Pesticide-Free Option: Ulesfia, a gel that suffocates the lice, approved for use on kids 6 months and older. You can get in most pharmacies.

TEETH: How Often? = Once a week
Ms.LZ's set of teeth
Make sure your child sees a dentist twice a year, starting before their first birthday, if possible. But that's not enough, make twice-daily teeth brushing a nonnegotiable part of their daily routine. Check weekly for swollen gums and discoloration - those tiny teeth should be pearly white.

FEET: How often? =  Every three weeks
On her feet for Astro Arena with cousin ChaCha.. those Barbie sneakers are now in the box, for her lil sister
Does the shoe fit? There's a good chance that it doesn't. In addition to squishing little toes, small shoes can cause ingrown toenails, caluses, and blisters and if they're worn long enough, they can stunt toe growth and lead to deformities like bunions. Because toddlers feet can grow one size in just two to three months, check shoes every few weeks. Stand your toddler up and make sure there's about a thumb width's distance between the top of the shoe and the longest toe. No wiggle room means it's for new kicks!

All of you might have more tips or experience to share on this topic. Feel free to leave your comment and show us the M.D side in you!
